Ildo Soares Rosa Monteiro, 74, of East Providence passed away on July 25th, 2023. Born in Fogo, Cabo Verde to the late João “Djonzinho” Monteiro and Lia Soares Rosa. He is survived by his wife Isaura Monteiro, daughters Ana Monteiro, Belinda Braxton, and son John Monteiro, nine grandchildren, and one great grandson, his sister Ilda S. Lopes, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased in death by his siblings the late Joana Monteiro, Maria Barbosa, and Inocência Monteiro.
Ildo served in the Portuguese army as a medical nurse. He was employed by Carol Cable as a machine operator for 37 years. Ildo was a loving husband and father with a big heart. He was a devout Jehovah Witness who spent hours daily reading his Bible. His hobbies include gardening, farming, and music, his favorite being “Morna”.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 30th from 4pm-7pm in the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave. Lincoln. His funeral will begin on Monday, July 31st 2023 at 9:00am from the Keefe Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Rumford Cemetery, Rumford, RI.
